As we begin our journey through this hymn of commitment and our approach to Easter make time to ponder this text and all it communicates. Let’s tune our hearts.
Crown Him King
Have you ever met someone really important or famous? Do you recall that feeling of being around someone who was spectacular in some way? Certainly Jesus was, and Nathanael knew it.
No doubt when Jesus revealed something to Nathanael let him know Jesus already knew Him it changed Him. He had been skeptical if anything good could come out of Nazareth, but quickly changed his tune. He confessed Jesus to be the King of Israel.
King of my life I crown Thee now
Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” John 1:49 ESV
Nathanael made this declaration when he first met Jesus. The challenge for us is choosing to crown Jesus as our King every day, not just the first. Some days are certainly easier than others, but on the hard days is when crowning Him becomes most important and helpful.. Crown Him today!
We make the choice to crown Jesus King of our lives when we first meet Him like Nathanael. We must continue to make that same choice, in every “now” we experience. Remembering the road to Calvary challenges us to do so because it reveals how worthy He is.
RESONATE!
Take a few moments and crown Jesus King of your life. Tell Him you want to acknowledge Him as your King today and every day. Make this your simple prayer “Jesus, I crown You my King.”
Give Him Glory
If you are willing to claim Jesus as your King, it is going to require some changes in your life. Instead of making choices that please you and cause the world to revolve around you, you must make choices that please God and cause your world to revolve around Him. In other words, you must commit to living in a way that will bring Him glory, not you.
Thine shall the glory be
Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 ESV
Jesus will be given glory for all He accomplished and is even now seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Truly He is receiving glory. As you look to Jesus may it be your first inclination to give Him glory and so join the worship around the throne. You don’t have to wait.
He will receive glory for all eternity for what He accomplished at Calvary. I want to make sure my life reflects that continually. I want to make the choice to give Him glory every moment of every day until I finally see His face. My reflections on what He did at Calvary can prompt that.
RESONATE
Take a few moments and determine to live your life in such a way to bring glory to God. Will that require some changes? Most certainly. Pray a simple prayer like this one, “Spirit, help me always give Jesus glory.” Then look for opportunities every day to live it out.
Jesus, thank You for revealing Yourself to me as You did to Nathanael. Help me choose every day to crown You my King and give you glory. In Jesus’ name.

Lead me to Calvary
We make the choice to crown Jesus King of our lives when we first meet Him like Nathanael. We must continue to make that same choice, in every “now” we experience. Remembering the road to Calvary challenges us to do so because it reveals how worthy He is.
Jesus, I crown You my King.
He will receive glory for all eternity for what He accomplished at Calvary. I want to make sure my life reflects that continually. I want to make the choice to give Him glory every moment of every day until I finally see His face. My reflections on what He did at Calvary can prompt that.
Spirit, help me always give Jesus glory.
Remember. It is a very biblical concept. We must recall all that God has done for us. As we begin to give Him the honor He is due, we can forget the dishonor He endured to earn it. Take a few moments to remember His thorn-crowned brow, and then worship Jesus.
Jesus, help me always remember.
We generally pray to be delivered out of pain, or at least through it. Here we are praying to be led to the place where the greatest pain of all occurred. Why? Because His pain was literally our gain. What Jesus accomplished at Calvary changed everything for everyone forever!
Lord, lead me to Calvary.
Take a few moments to talk to Jesus about what has surfaced in your heart, or just listen to what He is saying to you, then we will sing once more.
Lest I forget Gethsemane
Lest I forget Thine agony
Lest I forget Thy love for me
Lead me to Calvary
Take the awareness of God’s presence cultivated in these last few minutes into the next ones and beyond. Until next time, Be Resonant.
