As we conclude our journey through this hymn ask the Holy Spirit to help you receive and then issue this call to worship. Be sure to find your place in the praise. Let’s tune our hearts.
Putting Doubt in the Grave
We all doubt. Most of us acknowledge it. Some of us deny it.
How about you?
Is there or has there been something that has tested your trust in God? Maybe it was the loss of someone, while you trusted God for healing. A relationship that remains fractured or broken, while you continue to trust God to restore. Maybe an accomplish you have labored to see completed, while you are waiting on God to move.
Whatever we face, we need to learn to see it against the backdrop of the cross. While it may look to some a place of defeat, we know that it was God’s chosen pathway to the most glorious victory ever. There Jesus demonstrated He had the power to lay down His life and then take it back up again, having fulfilled the laws just demands.
With the knowledge and evidence of the resurrection alive in our hearts we can put doubt in the grave Jesus only borrowed. How is doubt tempted you today? Despair? Hopelessness? Apathy? Bury them today.
No more we doubt Thee glorious Prince of life
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26 ESV
We declare our faith in Jesus, even while we acknowledge there was a time when we doubted. Jesus asked His disciples plainly and He asks you today, do you believe? Answer Him in your own words.
Is there anything like rising from the dead to remove all doubt that our Prince is indeed the Prince of life? Hardly. And being the Prince of life, Jesus knew that is exactly what we would need to not only overcome death, but also our doubt that there was anything beyond it.
RESONATE!
Take a few moments and think about doubt. Jesus knew we would struggle with it so He gave us the best proof for faith, victory over death. Make this your simple prayer “Jesus, thank You for being our Prince of life.”
Nothing Causes Doubt Quite Like Difficulty
We have eternal life. So what? The help you feel you most need right now is not eternal, it is immediate!
After all, what good is eternal life if the part of it I am enjoying currently is filled with difficulty? You may have peace that Jesus has taken care of your eternal destiny, but you struggle with whether He cares about your present situation.
He does. Scripture and the experience of the saints that clear.
Life is nought without Thee aid us in our strife
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 ESV
He provides comfort to us so we can provide comfort for others. What does that comfort avail us if we do not have life? So He starts by giving us life, then gives comfort.
Granting us eternal life is an immeasurable gift, but Jesus goes even further. He promises to comfort us when life is marked with afflictions. In other words, we not only have life, but life abundant. Not free of pain and suffering, but a way to alleviate grief and distress.
RESONATE!
Take a few moments and recall times when the Lord has comforted you in your affliction. Having eternal life is the greatest gift, but comfort when this part of it is hard is an incredible kindness as well. Pray this simple prayer, “Father, thank You for being our comfort.“
Jesus, thank You for giving us victory over death, and doubt. Thank you for comforting us in our hardest moments well. I trust You with today and forever. In Jesus’ name.

No more we doubt Thee glorious Prince of life
Life is nought without Thee aid us in our strife
Make us more than conquerors Through Thy deathless love
Lead us in Thy triumph To Thy home above
Is there anything like rising from the dead to remove all doubt that our Prince is indeed the Prince of life? Hardly. And being the Prince of life, Jesus knew that is exactly what we would need to not only overcome death, but also our doubt that there was anything beyond it.
Jesus, thank You for being our Prince of life.
Granting us eternal life is an immeasurable gift, but Jesus goes even further. He promises to comfort us when life is marked with afflictions. In other words, we not only have life, but life abundant. Not free of pain and suffering, but a way to alleviate grief and distress.
Father, thank You for being our comfort.
What does it mean to be more than conquerors? We not only overcome death and distress but as we learn to live in His matchless love we are able to exhibit a quality of life that simply surpasses understanding. Oh, to rest in the deathless love of Jesus.
Spirit, teach us how to live in Christ’s love.
Jesus modeled that rest even before His death, and His resurrection invites us into that victory. Are you looking to the risen Savior to lead you every day? Fix your eyes on the destination so that you are equipped to enjoy every step on the journey home.
Jesus, help me fix my eyes on You.
Take a few moments to talk to Jesus about what has surfaced in your heart, or just listen to what He is saying to you, then we will sing once more.
Thine be the glory risen conquering Son
Endless is the victory Thou o’er death hast won
Take the awareness of God’s presence cultivated in these last few minutes into the next ones and beyond. Until next time, Be Resonant.
