Lo Jesus meets us Risen from the tomb
Lovingly He greets us Scatters fear and gloom
Let the church with gladness Hymns of triumph sing
For her Lord now liveth Death hath lost its sting
Thine is the Glory

Risen, Meeting
The resurrection declares that Jesus is alive. That was some incredible news for those first disciples, but what did it mean for them. And what difference does that make for us today?
Jesus revealed Himself to his disciples after His resurrection. He met them to show them he was alive and had overcome death and the grave. There were hundreds of accounts of Jesus appearing to His disciples.
Lo Jesus meets us Risen from the tomb
Now when he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene…After these things he appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country. Mark 16:9, 12 ESV
The resurrected Christ met many of His disciples face-to-face before his ascension. Here we read of Mary, and two others, and even though we do not see Him face-to-face, we know Jesus lives and meets us also.
As this line tells us of Jesus living again among His disciples makes me think of another hymn, “He Lives” which says “You ask me how I know he lives. He lives within my heart.” Unlike the first disciples, we have to wait for the joy of seeing Him face-to-face, but it does not change the reality of His presence with us every day.
RESONATE!
Take a few moments and reflect on how Jesus met the disciples after He rose again. Now take a moment and think about how He has met with you. Make this your simple prayer “Jesus, thank You for meeting us.”
Lovingly Greeting
He not only met with His disciples, but He tenderly greeted them and dispersed the fear and gloom that must have felt so deeply those days after His crucifixion. They had to have nearly lost all hope. Though we can not enter in to what they experienced we each encounter similar feelings of hopelessness in the face of some circumstances.
Lovingly He greets us Scatters fear and gloom
And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid….” Matthew 28:9-10a ESV
It is hard to imagine what those disciples must have felt when they heard the familiar voice of Jesus greet them. They responded with affection and adoration. How I long to fall at His feet and worship Jesus!
A contemporary song “Hosanna” says, “When we see You we find strength to face the day. In Your presence, all our fears are washed away.” Jesus did that for those disciples immediately after His resurrection, and He continues to do the same for us today.
RESONATE
Take a few moments and recall a time in your life when it seemed like all hope was lost. How wonderful that the resurrection of Jesus makes him available to greet us and restoring our hope in His presence. Pray this simple prayer, “Savior, thank You for scattering our fear and gloom.“
Jesus, thank You for meeting us and greeting us with Your love. Your presence makes the difference in every circumstance. We rejoice in Your love. In Jesus’ name.

Welcome to Tuesday Tunings at Resonant 7, where we reflect on the reality of God and resolve to let it resound in our lives, repeatedly. Let’s tune our hearts.
Lo Jesus meets us Risen from the tomb
Lovingly He greets us Scatters fear and gloom
Let the church with gladness Hymns of triumph sing
For her Lord now liveth Death hath lost its sting
This line makes me think of another hymn, “He Lives” which says “You ask me how I know he lives. He lives within my heart.” Unlike the first disciples, we have to wait for the joy of seeing Him face-to-face, but it does not change the reality of His presence with us every day.
Jesus, thank You for meeting us.
A contemporary song “Hosanna” says, “When we see You we find strength to face the day. In Your presence, all our fears are washed away.” Jesus did that for those disciples immediately after His resurrection, and He continues to do the same for us today.
Savior, thank You for scattering our fear and gloom.
We do not mope around with tears in our eyes like a group of followers whose leader has been vanquished. We lilt along with a song on our lips because our God has triumphed over the grave. Sing with gladness church as often as you gather!
Spirit, fill our hymns with gladness.
It’s like death played Hot Hands with Jesus and lost. But not only that. Jesus surprised death by moving so quickly the attempted slap seemed to only graze Him and had no sting. In truth, it was a fatal blow and left a mark. Then Jesus changed the game.
Father, thank You for giving Jesus authority over death.
Take a few moments to talk to Jesus about what has surfaced in your heart, or just listen to what He is saying to you, then we will sing once more.
Thine be the glory risen conquering Son
Endless is the victory Thou o’er death hast won
Take the awareness of God’s presence cultivated in these last few minutes into the next ones and beyond. Until next time,Be Resonant.
