As we begin our journey through this ancient hymn ask the Holy Spirit to help you issue this call to worship. Be sure to find your place in the praise. Let’s tune our hearts.
The Invitation Has Been Issued
But it is really more of a command.
He is worthy to be praised. He has inspired the adulation. All His works will glorify Him.
All creatures of our God and King
Bless the Lord, all his works, in all places of his dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul! Psalm 103:22 ESV
This entire hymn is a call to worship. The entirety of creation is commanded to offer God the King the praise that He deserves. All His works in all places of His kingly dominion are to bless Him. No created thing or part of creation is left out of the invitation to worship.
There is simply no mistaking the inclusivity of the opening line of this ancient text. Every creature of God’s magnificent creation is exhorted to come and offer praise to Him. Many have never heard this invitation. How will you be a part of making sure they do?
RESONATE!
Take a few moments and consider this simple yet profound call to worship. Have you heard it? If so, have you responded? Make this your simple prayer “God, help me extend the invitation to worship. ”
Find Your Voice
I can not imagine many prairie dogs don a fedora and grab classic crooner mic to join the praise, but this image reminds us that we must each find our unique contribution to it. We will all sing, but that is only one of the expressions of our praise. It is imperative we each find the way that we can best offer our praise.
Lift up your voice and with us sing
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Psalm 19:1 ESV
Just in case there is any uncertainty as to at least one form that praise should take we are to sing. But how do creatures that can not speak sing? In their own unique voice they are to declare and proclaim His glory revealed in His handiwork. Have you found your voice?
How can you make the praise of God known to the world around you? You have a unique set of interests and skills and relationships that position you to communicate the wonder of who God is unlike any else can. We will all sing, but many of us can do other things even better. What might yours be?
RESONATE
Take a few moments and think about your voice. What has God given you that you could use to declare His worth? Pray this simple prayer, “Jesus, help me identify my contribution to the praise.“
Jesus, thank You for inviting each of us into Your praise, for giving us something to praise. Thank you for giving us something to offer. Help us use it for your glory. In Jesus’ name.

All creatures of our God and King
Lift up your voice and with us sing
O praise Him alleluia
Thou burning sun with golden beam
Thou silver moon with softer gleam
There is simply no mistaking the inclusivity of the opening line of this ancient text. Every creature of God’s magnificent creation is exhorted to come and offer praise to Him. Many have never heard this invitation. How will you be a part of making sure they do?
God, help me extend the invitation to worship.
How can you make the praise of God known to the world around you? You have a unique set of interests and skills and relationships that position you to communicate the wonder of who God is unlike any else can. We will all sing, but many of us can do other things even better.
Jesus, help me identify my contribution to the praise.
Our list of things that declare the glory of God, begins with the largest body in our solar system. Nothing proclaims the glory of God in our world like the sun. Often seen as an object of worship because of its brilliance, if the sun could speak it would redirect us with a bright “Worship God!”
Lord, thank You for inviting me to worship.
We swing the pendulum to the evening sky and exhort the praise of the orb that rotates around us, the moon. Looking into the night sky illuminated by a full moon is cause for wonder, but be careful that wonder is turned to the One who made the moon, not the moon itself.
Spirit, help me praise the Maker of the moon.
Take a few moments to talk to Jesus about what has surfaced in your heart, or just listen to what He is saying to you, then we will sing the refrain..
All creatures of our God and King
Lift up your voice and with us sing
O praise Him alleluia
Thou burning sun with golden beam
Thou silver moon with softer gleam
O praise Him O praise Him
Alleluia alleluia alleluia
Take the awareness of God’s presence cultivated in these last few minutes into the next ones and beyond. Until next time, Be Resonant.
