Podcast 33.6 Transcript
Welcome to Thursday Thoughts at Resonant 7, where we reflect on the reality of God and resolve to let it resound in our lives, repeatedly. Let’s think about this.
Just as I am poor wretched blind
For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. Revelation 3:17 ESV
It is hard for us to admit our humble condition. But that humility is the beginning of an incredible journey with Jesus. The Scripture here paints a very poignant picture of the condition of our souls apart from Jesus. Will you admit those things to Him today?
Sight riches healing of the mind
I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. Revelation 3:18 ESV
If we will humble ourselves, admit our helpless state, and receive His counsel of love He will transform our condition from awful to wonderful. None of that is based on any merit of our own but is simply the grace of God. He gives us what we do not deserve. Everything we need.
Yea all I need in Thee to find
Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. Revelation 3:19 ESV
All I need, yes. Love, indeed. But reproof, discipline, zeal and repentance? Those are not on many of our lists of needful things, but they should be. It is our willingness to accept these things that position us to receive far better. We find everything we need in His love.
O Lamb of God I come I come
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20 ESV
This verse reminds us that even when we come we are simply responding to the initiative our Lord has taken. If you hear His voice and open the door it is only because He started knocking. Come and open the door of your heart to Jesus again today.
Take a few moments to talk to Jesus about what has come to your mind, or listen to what He is saying to you, then I will read our text once more, with the refrain.
Just as I am poor wretched blind
Sight riches healing of the mind
Yea all I need in Thee to find
O Lamb of God I come I come
Take the mindfulness of God’s presence cultivated in these last few minutes into the next ones and beyond. Until next time, Be Resonant.
