Podcast 33.1 Transcript
Welcome to Thursday Thoughts at Resonant 7, where we reflect on the reality of God and resolve to let it resound in our lives, repeatedly. Let’s think about this.
Just as I am without one plea
Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins. Ecclesiastes 7:20 ESV
There is nothing to be said. No argument to make. No merit to declare. As we come before God it is imperative that we acknowledge the truth of who we are, sinners. We must confess it and throw ourselves on His mercy. That humility prepares us to own our position.
But that Thy Blood was shed for me
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace…Ephesians 1:7 ESV
We were separated from God because of our sin, but His grace brought us back to Him. He forgave us all our trespasses. He redeemed us with His blood shed for us. It is the only plea that makes a difference in our position and grants us access once again to God.
And that Thou bidd’st me come to Thee
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 ESV
Not only does He make the way for us to come, but then He calls us to do so. Weary and worn from carrying the weight of our sin He offers us rest if we will come to Him. Why so many ignore this incredible, unmerited offer of grace is mind-boggling to me.
O Lamb of God I come I come
All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. John 6:37 ESV
I would be one ignoring the call to come if the Father had not allowed me to hear that call to come. I would never have tasted forgiveness. I would still be separated from God without one plea but the Lamb of God has called me to Himself. Thank you Jesus.
Take a few moments to talk to Jesus about what has come to your mind, or listen to what He is saying to you, then I will read our text once more, with the Refrain.
Just as I am without one plea
But that Thy Blood was shed for me
And that Thou bidd’st me come to Thee
O Lamb of God I come I come
Take the mindfulness of God’s presence cultivated in these last few minutes into the next ones and beyond. Until next time, Be Resonant.
